Private Commissions

Private Commissions

commissioned works developed through an established contemporary practice

Nathan's commissioned works are held in private collections throughout New Zealand and overseas, ranging from intimate studio works to large-scale sculptural installations.

Ingram collaborates with private collectors, architects and clients to develop commissioned artworks informed by his contemporary abstract practice. Working across painting, sculpture and installation, each commission responds to its environment while remaining connected to the visual language, materials and processes that define the artist's wider body of work.

Whether developed for residential, commercial or architectural settings, commissioned projects create an opportunity to realise unique works that engage directly with place, scale and context.

The Commission Process

  • Consultation

Each commission begins with a conversation about the site, scale, budget and intended outcome. This may involve reviewing plans, photographs, material palettes, architectural drawings or existing interiors to understand the context and aspirations for the work.

  • Concept Development

Drawing from his established visual language, Nathan develops initial concepts exploring composition, materiality, scale and colour relationships. Concepts are refined in response to the site and the unique requirements of the project.

  • Refinement

Following feedback and discussion, the selected concept is further developed. This stage may include material sampling, colour testing, technical detailing and fabrication planning where required.

  • Production

The artwork is produced in Nathan's Christchurch studio using materials and processes aligned with the broader practice. Whether creating works on glass, paintings, sculpture or installation-based projects, each commission is treated as an extension of the artist's ongoing body of work.

  • Installation

Completed artworks can be professionally packed and freighted throughout New Zealand and internationally. Where required, Nathan can coordinate installation directly or work alongside architects, builders and installation teams to ensure the work is successfully integrated into its final environment.
